Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, announced the observation of the crescent moon and Venus in Sharjah’s skies on Sunday evening.
Venus continues to shine brightly in the sky, having reached its greatest eastern elongation from the sun on Saturday, at approximately 46 degrees (its greatest distance from the setting sun), he said.
Venus can be observed with the naked eye after sunset above the western horizon, and the view becomes even more beautiful as it appears closer to the crescent moon, providing an excellent opportunity for astronomical observation and photography, he added.
The crescent rose higher above the horizon yesterday, while Venus would gradually descend over the coming weeks, approaching the setting sun, he said.
