The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a man to pay Dhs4,000 as compensation to four others for causing a traffic accident through his negligence and recklessness.
While the defendant was trying to overtake a car from the shoulder of the road, the car with women and children on board overturned.
Earlier, four people filed a lawsuit against a vehicle driver in which they requested the court to obligate him to pay them Dhs100,000 as compensation for the harm that had befallen them plus legal interest at 9 per cent from the date of the verdict until full payment and the incurred charges, expenses and lawyer’s fees.
The victims pleaded that the defendant’s negligence and recklessness caused their car with women and children inside to overturn when he was trying to overtake their car from the road's shoulder.
The accident led to the damages shown in the accident report and the defendant was fined Dhs1,000 to which he did not appeal, they said.
The court explained that after reviewing the accident report and the evidence collection report, it was evident that the driver of the vehicle did not stick to the lane and overtook the car, colliding with it and causing it to overturn before he escaped.
