UAE Ministry of Education sets 13 conditions for students to get full scholarship

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced that applying for a fully funded scholarship to pursue a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in top fields at renowned international universities involves meeting 13 general conditions.

The Ministry outlined the scholarship criteria as follows: applicants must be UAE citizens, fulfill all specific requirements for their selected degree, and have received academic acceptance from a university and programme recognised by the Ministry.

The field of study should align with priority sectors. Candidates must also pass a personal interview and required competency and skills tests.

Additionally, previous qualifications must be validated or certified by relevant authorities and the Ministry of Education. Finally, applicants need to commit to full-time, on-campus study abroad.

The requirements are as follows: males must provide a certificate for exemption, postponement, or completion of national service.

Candidates need to sign a declaration agreeing to the scholarship and study aid regulations and any conditions stated by the Ministry once the scholarship is fully approved.

Applicants should not have received a full scholarship or grant from any organisation, domestically or internationally. Additionally, they must not have previously been on a scholarship for an equivalent or lower degree level, nor should they have had a scholarship canceled due to any reason if sponsored by the Ministry or another entity.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced a 50% increase in the financial allocations for scholarship recipients.

This update in the scholarship system aims to enhance the competitiveness of national talent and align with future goals. The Ministry updated eight financial allocations to better meet the state’s aspirations and student needs.

The Ministry outlined that the updated system is designed to establish a comprehensive government scholarship programme. This initiative is intended to regulate eligibility and admission criteria, choose universities and majors based on national priorities, align specialisations with labor market demands, monitor and evaluate academic outcomes, and support key economic sectors.

The Ministry also identified seven priority economic sectors: technology and engineering, energy, creative industries, water and environment, transportation and logistics, healthcare, and finance.
