Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced partial opening of traffic between University City and the Institutes Land area by providing two traffic lanes in each direction, starting from Industrial Area 17, passing through University Bridge and reaching University City, as part of a road project to access the Etihad Rail Station.
The work also includes partial closure and diversion of traffic from Industrial Area 17 towards Mleiha Street with the provision of alternative routes that allow access to services and facilities surrounding the area, according to the routes shown in the approved traffic plan.
The traffic diversions will be implemented starting from Monday, August 24, 2026 and will continue until Sunday, October 4, 2026, according to the alternative routes specified in the plan broadcast by SRTA on its social media platforms, thereby ensuring the continuity of traffic and access to all destinations in that area.
The traffic diversions come as part of a project for implementing roads to access the Etihad Rail Station, which aims to develop the road network and infrastructure supporting the project, raise the efficiency of traffic flow and enhance smooth traffic in the surrounding areas.
SRTA urged road users to abide by the approved traffic diversions, follow directional signs and regulatory signals and comply with traffic safety guidelines in order to preserve their safety and the safety of other road users and ensure smooth traffic flow during the project implementation period.
