Sharjah Charity International (SCI) distributed 2,600 summer bags to workers at field work sites, along with water and coolers, as part of the "Cool and Peace" campaign implemented by SCI annually during the summer, aiming to support workers and provide protective supplies which help them face rising temperatures and direct exposure to sunlight while performing their work, in an initiative which embodies the SCI's interest in this group and appreciation for their role in the development process, and a practical translation of the values of compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility established by the UAE, which has made humans the focus of its social and humanitarian initiatives.
Mohammed Al Mulla, Director of the Volunteering and Community Service Office at the SCI, said that the “Cool and Peace” campaign carries, alongside its preventive dimension, a message of appreciation and gratitude to the workers who perform their tasks at field work sites, noting that the campaign reflects the UAE's approach to human care and enhancing the culture of mercy, solidarity, and concern for various segments of society.
The bags distributed included a set of protective supplies, including sunglasses, gloves, and umbrellas, and water and coolers were also distributed, Al Mulla explained.
He stressed that the value of the initiative is not limited to what was distributed, but extends to the humanitarian meaning it carries, represented by recognising the efforts of workers and appreciating their giving, and making them feel that society appreciates the important roles they play, which enhances social bonds and consolidates the concept of shared responsibility toward the safety and quality of life of those working in the field.
The participation of volunteers and youth teams in preparing and distributing the supplies added a social and voluntary dimension to the campaign, transforming the initiative into a practical experience that reinforces the values of initiative, giving, and serving others among the youth, Al Mulla added.
He also pointed out that the campaign is one of the seasonal programmes that SCI is keen to implement annually, within its system of social and humanitarian programmes, reflecting the broad scope of charitable work to include preventive initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life alongside direct aid.
Such initiatives are based on the integration of efforts by the SCI, volunteers, donors, and partners, and provide a model for community work that combines awareness, care, and appreciation, embodying the civilised image of the UAE and its established approach in preserving human dignity and promoting the values of giving, compassion, and solidarity, Al Mulla indicated
