Sharjah man gets community service instead of jail term for assaulting another man while mediating a fight

Sharjah Misdemeanor Court ordered an Asian to do community service instead of a three-month jail term after being convicted of assaulting a man while trying to break up a fight and causing him multiple fractures in various parts of his body.

Earlier, the victim filed a report in which he stated that a shared accommodation supervisor assaulted him with a metal object and causing him multiple injuries and fractures.

The victim explained in his statement that he entered his room to find that his clothes were scattered despite the fact that he had tidied them before leaving. He was also surprised to find a teapot placed on his bed by a roommate and after identifying the person responsible for that, he demanded an explanation, he added.

The conversation between the two parties snowballed into a fight and the accommodation supervisor tried to intervene to resolve the dispute. However, the discussion between him and the victim aroused his indignation and instead of trying to calm things down, he turned into a party to the fight.

The accommodation supervisor then assaulted his adversary using an iron tool, which caused him to sustain fractures in his body and prompted him to go to the competent authorities and file a report of the incident.

When confronted with the charge of assaulting the victim using an iron tool, the accused admitted that he had initially intervened to mediate and resolve the fight, but that the conversation between him and the victim caused him to be indignant and to assault him.

After hearing the statements of the parties involved and the witnesses and reviewing the case papers and the evidence they contained, the court ordered the defendant to do community service instead of 3-month jail term.
