Dubai expands Bus On Demand service to three new areas

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) added three new areas to the Bus on Demand service, which are: Al Satwa, Al Quoz, and Mirdif, bringing the number of areas with this new expansion to 20 areas which provide easier and more flexible mobility for residents and visitors, and enhance the RTA's direction and constant keenness to provide public transport means for the emirate's residents and visitors through smart applications and at affordable fares within everyone's reach.

During the first half of 2026, the service achieved a significant leap in demand, as it transported 527,000 passengers, with a growth rate of 25.1% compared to the same period in 2025.

June 2026 was the most prominent, as it recorded the highest number of passengers since the beginning of the year with 105,990 passengers.

The increasing demand affirms the public's confidence in the service and its ease of use, especially after expanding the operation areas by 54% and increasing the number of buses to 55 buses to meet the growing demand.

This expansion to three new areas in the emirate comes within the RTA's strategy aimed at enhancing solutions, by providing flexible transport means which link residential areas and public transport stations, in line with the Dubai government's directions to consolidate its leadership in the field of easy and sustainable transport.

RTA identified a number of simple steps to obtain the service, including: downloading the smart application (Bus on Demand), registering for the service, and entering the required data to activate the application and use the service with ease.

The service provides multiple payment options, including credit cards and debit cards, in addition to NOL card, which makes it easier for users to complete payment processes easily.

We continues to develop the service and improve the passenger journey, in a way that supports Dubai's vision in building a smart, comfortable, and sustainable public transport system, RTA said.
