SEWA installs 1,878 new lighting poles in 2026 H1

SEWA revealed the installation of a group of street lighting projects during the first half of 2026, which included the installation of 1,878 new lighting poles in various areas of Sharjah City, in addition to extending the street lighting network by a total length of 1,05.8 kilometres, as part of its plans aimed at enhancing traffic safety, improving quality of life, and supporting the urban and aesthetic landscape in the emirate.
The Authority stated it continues to implement its development projects in the field of street lighting according to the highest technical specifications and international standards, in keeping with the rapid urban expansion witnessed by the emirate. These projects, SEWA said, enhance the efficiency of infrastructure and services provided to residents and visitors, and contribute to providing a safer and more comfortable environment for road users in various areas.
Engineer Ahmed Al Bass, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department at SEWA, affirmed that these efforts come within an integrated strategic plan to continuously develop and modernise lighting networks, ensuring their operational efficiency and achieving the highest levels of reliability and sustainability through the utilisation of the latest technologies and smart driving solutions used in lighting systems.
SEWA continues to implement lighting projects according to specialised technical studies which take into account the needs of various regions, while applying the latest approved technical specifications and standards in the design and implementation of lighting networks, Al Bass added.
He affirmed that SEWA is also keen to use modern lighting systems which contribute to enhancing security and safety for road users and raising operational efficiency, in addition to preserving the urban and aesthetic appearance of the emirate.
The authority continues in developing lighting networks and expanding their coverage to support sustainable development and improve the quality of services provided to the community.
