The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the next phase of its summer programme, headlined by seven weeks of beach fitness and wellness activities at Al Heera Beach and Khorfakkan Beach, as well as a range of family-friendly experiences across a number of its destinations throughout August and September.
Alongside the beach fitness and wellness programme, Shurooq is introducing Sharjah Saturday Run, a four-event community running series at Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront, as well as the Summer Explorer Camp for children at Al Qasba and a changing programme of family entertainment at Al Majaz Waterfront. Together, these experiences make up more than 50 activities taking place across Shurooq's destinations through to the end of September.
Al Montazah Parks
Aligned with the objectives of the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026, the initiatives create more opportunities for families and communities to be active, learn and spend meaningful time together. They also reflect Shurooq’s development mandate to create and manage year-round destinations that serve residents and visitors while drawing on Sharjah’s distinctive coastal, natural, cultural and urban assets.
Free seven-week community wellness programme
A major component of Shurooq’s summer programme will see Al Heera Beach and Khorfakkan Beach transformed into open-air fitness destinations for seven consecutive weekends, creating a coordinated community wellness offering across Sharjah’s western and eastern coastlines.
Running from 7 August to 19 September, the programme will deliver 28 professionally led sessions every Friday and Saturday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, bringing together adults, teenagers, women, children and families through accessible activities designed for different fitness levels.
Flag Island
At the 3.5-kilometre Al Heera Beach, the schedule will include sunset yoga, beach running, family fitness, ladies-only sessions and team challenges, supported by the destination’s sports facilities, children’s areas and waterfront dining. On the east coast, Khorfakkan Beach will host functional fitness, cycling, yoga, community runs and parent-and-child activities against its distinctive mountain and coastal setting, culminating in a large-scale community fitness finale.
Spanning both the western and eastern coasts, the programme highlights Al Heera Beach and Khorfakkan Beach as complementary destinations for outdoor recreation, bringing communities together through regular fitness activities in distinctive waterfront settings.
Sharjah Saturday Run to debut across two waterfront destinations
As part of the summer programme, Shurooq is introducing Sharjah Saturday Run, a new series of four free evening runs designed to bring residents, visitors and families together through accessible community fitness.
The series will kick off at Al Qasba on 15 August before moving to Al Majaz Waterfront on 22 August. It will then return to Al Qasba on 29 August, and then for the fourth run at Al Majaz Waterfront on 5 September. Each session will commence at 6:00 pm and is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
By taking the run beyond conventional sporting venues and into some of Sharjah’s most iconic public destinations, the initiative encourages participants to stay active while experiencing the emirate’s waterfronts and urban spaces more engagingly.
Al Noor Island
Participants should arrive by 5:45 pm for a 6:00 pm start. Meeting points are outside Starbucks at Al Qasba and outside Tim Hortons at Al Majaz Waterfront. Advance registration is required through the Discover Shurooq website.
Summer Explorer Camp at Al Qasba
Al Qasba’s Summer Explorer Camp 2026 will welcome children aged seven to 15 from 10 to 27 August, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at Al Multaqa.
The three-part programme progresses from discovery and adventure to science, technology and innovation, before concluding with leadership, media skills and entrepreneurship.
Al Heera Beach
Activities include science experiments, robotics, coding, engineering challenges, public speaking, photography and storytelling, helping children develop problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.
Adding to the family entertainment on offer, Masrah Al Qasba will stage Goldilocks and the Three Bears from 27 to 30 August.
Family entertainment at Al Majaz Waterfront
Al Majaz Waterfront will anchor Shurooq’s family entertainment programme with 14 themed evenings across seven consecutive weekends, creating a major summer gathering point for children and families in the heart of Sharjah.
Al Qasba
Running every Friday and Saturday from 7 August to 19 September, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, the programme will activate the Splash Park and Kids Fun House through a changing schedule of live performances, roaming entertainment and interactive activities designed to offer families a different experience each weekend.
The programme will culminate in a two-day closing celebration on 18 and 19 September, reinforcing Al Majaz Waterfront’s position as one of Sharjah’s leading family destinations and complementing its waterfront setting, leisure facilities and dining offering.
Shurooq expands summer learning into Sharjah’s natural landscapes
Shurooq will extend its summer programme beyond the emirate’s urban and waterfront destinations, offering families immersive learning experiences at Al Noor Island and Mleiha National Park.
Al Montazah Parks
At Al Noor Island, children will explore the relationship between art, biodiversity, and sustainability through nature discovery, creative workshops, and planting activities during its new Summer Programme, every weekend from 5 pm - 7 pm, within the island’s landscaped environment.
Al Heera Beach
At Mleiha National Park, families can journey through Sharjah’s natural and archaeological heritage with fossil discovery, museum visits, desert tours at sunset and stargazing beneath clear desert skies with special summer packages.
Summer stays shaped by Sharjah’s landscapes
