Sharjah Police launch initiative to inspect fishermen’s trailers to enhance traffic safety

Sharjah Police, in co-operation with Sharjah Fishermen’s Co-operative Society, launched an initiative to inspect trailers belonging to the society members at the trailer parking area in Al Mamzar.

This initiative is part of Sharjah Police’s efforts to enhance road safety and prevent risks resulting from technical malfunctions by ensuring the readiness and suitability of trailers for safe use on the road.

The two-day initiative, launched with the participation of strategic partner ENOC Tasjeel, is aimed at inspecting approximately 200 trailers.

The inspections include checking the safety of tyres, braking systems, lighting and restraint systems as well as providing educational guidance to fishermen on the importance of regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users and to reduce trailer-related breakdowns and accidents.

Sharjah Police affirmed that the initiative came as part of their approach to strengthen strategic partnerships with the aim of developing the quality and flexibility of services provided to members of society.

It is also aimed at establishing a culture of commitment to traffic safety requirements, especially for vehicles and trailers used in professional activities, with a view to raising the levels of readiness, and achieving the highest standards of security and safety on the emirate’s roads, they added.

Sharjah Police urged all trailer owners to conduct regular inspections, abide by preventive maintenance and ensure that trailers meet technical requirements and are registered before use, stressing that compliance with safety procedures is a fundamental pillar for reducing accidents, protecting lives and property, and enhancing the society’s quality of life.
