Employer forgives worker accused of stealing gold jewellery in Sharjah

Sharjah Misdemeanor Court ruled that the case against an Asian worker accused of stealing 100 grams of gold jewelry from the shop where he worked was dismissed after the employer withdrew his complaint and a settlement was reached between the two parties.

Earlier, the owner of a shop for goldsmithing and selling gold discovered that there was a shortage of a quantity of gold jewelry and was consequently prompted to review the recordings of the surveillance cameras installed inside the shop.

The recordings showed that one of the employees working in the shop seized about 100 grams of gold. The shop owner submitted a report to the competent authorities along with the evidence that supported his statements and the accused was arrested pending interrogation.

During the proceedings, the court confronted the defendant with the charges against him, and he admitted to committing the act.

The court decided to grant him a grace period for a settlement to be reached between the two parties. At the following session, however, the employer appeared and announced his withdrawal of the complaint and his pardon of the defendant before the court.

Based on the victim's withdrawal of the complaint and the settlement reached between the two parties, the court ruled that the case be dismissed.
