Man impersonating a bank employee defrauds a woman of Dhs22,092 in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court ordered a man to return Dhs22,092 and fined him Dhs2,000 as compensation to a woman.

The man had allegedly seized the woman’s money through fraudulent means using information technology after deceiving her by claiming to be a bank employee, stating that her bank card was subject to fraud, and subsequently stealing the amount from her card along with an unidentified accomplice.

In the details, a woman filed a lawsuit against the appellee, requesting that he be compelled to pay the amount of Dhs22,092, in addition to paying her financial and moral compensation of Dhs8,000, plus fees, expenses, and attorney’s fees.

The complainant stated that the appellee fraudulently stole Dhs22,092 after deceiving her by impersonating a bank employee and claiming that her bank card was being subjected to fraud, and then committed his crime along with an anonymous accomplice.

She added that she had filed a report with the competent authorities, and a criminal judgment was issued against him in a case convicting him, which became final after it was not appealed.

The court clarified that it is evident from the previously issued criminal judgment that his conviction was proved and the suspect was punished for the crime he committed.

Consequently, the court ordered him to return the plaintiff Dhs22,092 and fined him Dhs2,000 for the damages she incurred.
