The Ministry of Higher Education highlights a significant shift in the industry and energy market. It is expected that 87% of jobs will experience higher demand, 20% will be entirely new roles, and 13% will see little to no change. Emphasis will be placed on the necessity for advanced skills.
The ministry explained that the labour market within the industry and energy sectors is experiencing significant changes. New types of jobs are emerging, and there is an increasing demand for advanced technical skills, whereas some routine tasks are becoming less prevalent. This trend emphasises the crucial need for investment in skills development to prepare the national workforce for future challenges.
According to "Emirates Skills" indicators, there will be a rise in demand for 87% of existing jobs as skills continue to evolve. This is particularly true for advanced engineering and sales roles, underlining the ongoing requirement for skilled professionals who can adapt to economic and technological advancements.
The report highlights that 20% of future jobs will be in new and emerging areas, such as robotics operations supervisor, AI systems quality assurance technician, and manufacturing engineer. This trend reflects the expanding opportunities within sectors linked to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence.
On the flip side, the report indicates that 13% of jobs are considered stagnant, such as administrative and routine clerical roles. This stagnation is attributed to the rapid pace of digital transformation, automation, and the integration of smart technologies in workplaces.
These findings emphasise the need to align educational outcomes with labor market requirements and increase investment in future skills. Such efforts are crucial for cultivating a national workforce capable of spearheading development and bolstering the UAE's competitiveness in the knowledge economy.
