UAE charity drive secures full treatment cost for Turkish child with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Dubai Islamic Bank donated the remaining amount for the treatment of the 6-year-old Turkish child, Goktug Ordu, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Dubai Charity Association, Dar Al Ber Society, and Engineer Hussain Lootah, former Director General of Dubai Municipality, along with the child's family, provided the bulk of the treatment cost, and the amount was completed with the donation from Dubai Islamic Bank.

Beit Al Khair Society played an important role after responding immediately to the humanitarian appeal published by Al Khaleej newspaper on April 12.

Within days, the society began its field movements, directing a specialised team to study the case and accelerate support procedures, and also launched a dedicated link to receive donations.

Goktug’s mother said: Every minute was making a difference in my son's life. I was seeing him weaken and I had nothing but prayers as this disease did not only steal his health, but also stole our joy and security.

Today, after the treatment cost is complete, the family no longer looks at the future with fear, but with hope, as tears of despair have turned into tears of gratitude, and the child has an appointment with the treatment the family waited for so long, in a story confirming that humanitarian work in the UAE does not stop at the limits of assistance, but gives patients a new chance at life.

The child's family expressed their deep thanks and gratitude to Al Khaleej newspaper, stressing that its role was not limited to publishing the story of the child's suffering but was the turning point which brought their voice to people of goodness and humanitarian institutions.

The family affirmed that the newspaper's continuous follow-up of the case contributed to mobilising the necessary support until the treatment cost was completed, noting that Al Khaleej was, and still is, a bridge of hope for many sick children and families facing harsh humanitarian circumstances.
