Sheikh Sultan directs promotion or rank adjustment of 2,218 Sharjah Police personnel

Based on the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the ranks and promotions of 2,218 Sharjah Police personnel have been adjusted.

This was announced by Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, who told the Direct Line programme that based on Sheikh Sultan’s directives, the ranks were adjusted and linked to educational qualifications.

The ranks of 1,555 Sharjah Police personnel were adjusted according to the new ranks and seniority was granted to 366 others to expedite their promotions, bringing to 1,921 the total number of personnel affected, he added.

As many as 65 members of Sharjah Police Science Academy were promoted, while 156 others were granted seniority, bringing the total to 221, he said, adding that 76 members of Sharjah Civil Defence Authority were also promoted.”

"These promotions and seniority increases would be reflected in their salaries starting with this month’s pay cheque," he said.

Separately, based on the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah Civil Defence Authority (SCDA) is continuing to implement procedures for regularising the employment status of officers and personnel in line with the newly approved military ranks and their academic qualifications with a view to ensuring a balance between academic qualifications and practical experience.

These procedures complement Sheikh Sultan’s decision promoting 76 SCDA officers and personnel and the adoption of new criteria for assigning ranks based on academic qualifications.

This step also contributes to motivating national cadres, enhancing efficiency and productivity and improving institutional performance, thereby supporting SCDA’s readiness to fulfill its mission of serving the society.
