Sharjah's eatery to contribute 2% of revenue to support humanitarian work

Street Delights, a home-grown fast-food concept, opened its doors on Sunday on the Fire Station Road in Muwaileh, Sharjah, combining a menu built around familiar favourites with a commitment to support humanitarian work.

As part of its business model, the restaurant has pledged to contribute an amount equal to 2% of its revenue to the Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Humanitarian Foundation.

The Sharjah-based global charity foundation works to safeguard children’s rights against exploitation and to help build safer, more secure futures for children.

Ali Tanveer, founder of Street Delights, said the commitment was intended to make social responsibility a continuing part of the restaurant’s operations rather than a one-time opening campaign.

“Street Delights was created with a simple belief: a neighbourhood restaurant can serve food that people genuinely enjoy while also contributing to a purpose larger than itself,” Tanveer said.

Guests enjoy the delicious foods at the newly opened restaurant in Muwaileh, Sharjah.

"Our 2% commitment is intended to remain part of the way we do business, so that every order can play a small role in supporting humanitarian work for children.”

The restaurant’s menu features smash burgers, crispy and spicy chicken burgers, freshly baked pizzas, loaded fries, wraps and chicken tenders, along with mojitos and milkshakes.

Street Delights says its concept is centred on premium ingredients, consistent preparation and prices designed to remain accessible to the wider community.

Guests attending the opening were welcomed with complimentary tasting portions, including two-bite burgers, pizza slices, fries and mojito shots, and had an opportunity to sample several items from the menu.

Tanveer said the decision to establish the concept in Sharjah reflects the team’s intention to build a responsible home-grown brand with strong roots in the community.

“For us, success will not be measured only by the number of meals we serve, but also by the trust we earn and the positive contribution we are able to make,” he added.

Dubai-based businessman, Masood Ahmed, lauded the owner's intention to contribute the 2 per cent revenue to Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Humanitarian Foundation to spend for the welfare of children. "Humanity itself speaks, when the intention of someone is clear. God rewards those who love and take care of humanity," Masood said.

Sharjah-based company manager, Mujahid Khan, praising the owner intention of supporting the humanitarian work of Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Foundation, said that this is the first time that someone opens his business for a cause. He said that I am not a lover of fast foods, but the taste of this restaurant is amazing, which will force me to come again here with my family.

The guests enjoyed the delicious foods, offered to them after the opening ceremony.
