UAE's philanthropist restores Anas smile, gives him new hope

The child Anas Mohammed Allam has started his first medical tests at Al Jalila Hospital, in preparation for receiving the treatment which will grant him a chance to get over the fierce disease after a philanthropist donated the costs of the treatment.

Anas said in words mixed with gratitude and joy, "Thank you to the philanthropist who gave me a new chance at life. I will always pray for Allah Al Mighty to protect and bless him, as he gave me hope after I thought the treatment was out of reach.”

Anas added that the gene injection is not just a medical treatment, but a visa for a new life, which will give him the chance to continue a normal life after years of suffering from the disease which threatened his ability to move over time.

Al Khaleej newspaper published Anas's story on May 9, which quickly met with a touching humanitarian response, resulting in a philanthropist's initiative to cover the remaining amount of the treatment cost, in a scene which embodies the values of mercy and solidarity that characterise Emirati society.

Anas's father expressed his overwhelming happiness at his son starting the medical tests, confirming that the family is living long-awaited moments today, and that they are preparing for a new phase filled with hope.

He added that Anas will return to his normal life after receiving the treatment, expressing his deep gratitude to the philanthropist and to everyone who contributed to this humanitarian journey, emphasising that the speed response reflects the established humanitarian approach of the UAE, which has made extending a helping hand to those in need an authentic value, and a destination of hope for patients of various nationalities.

Anas's mother shed tears of joy as she watched her son take the first steps of treatment, after the long suffering the family experienced in trying to collect the value of the gene injection.

She said that the philanthropist's initiative came at the moment when the family was in desperate need of hope, wishing that Allah Al Mighty would grant him health and wellness after he restored the smile to her child's face.

The case of Anas Mohammed Allam is the second within the Al Khaleej newspaper campaign to support children affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, after the success of the first campaign in securing treatment for the child Youssef Haider, who received the gene injection and completed his treatment successfully.
