Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has affirmed its commitment to developing infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life in the emirate through a range of projects including modern roads to integrated community spaces.
DMT completed 31 projects in 2025 all over the emirate including 89 parks, 85 kilometres of cycling tracks, 3 tunnels, 2 bridges, 800 lighting poles and 8 major intersection upgrades.
It also completed 105 bus stops, 1,446 parking spaces and one traditional market, it added, underlining its continued dedication to transforming its vision into reality and building a future that would align with Abu Dhabi’s aspirations.
As part of its strategy to enhance quality of life and build vibrant communities, DMT inaugurated 16 new parks in Al Shamkha area, it said, noting that these were the latest community spaces opened in 2025.

Earlier, DMT opened new parks in various areas across the capital including Al Falah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City as part of its efforts to develop integrated residential neighborhoods where residents enjoyed the highest standards of health and well-being in the emirate.
Infrastructure
DMT’s most prominent completed projects included two marine bridges connecting Al Reem Island to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road to enhance public infrastructure and improving traffic flow.
These bridges helped reduce average travel time during morning and evening peak hours by 60 per cent, or by an average of 15 minutes during peak times. Other projects included the expansion of Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road, which reduced travel time along the road from 17 minutes to 9 minutes, and the development of Arabian Gulf Street, which reduced delays during morning peak hours by 80 per cent.
DMT developed 10 smart parks equipped with approximately 1,000 sensors and 200 smart cameras and also implemented the Nabd platform for real-time city modeling, relying on 70 data sources and 15 interconnected systems.
Furthermore, DMT applied a digital twin model for city management to support proactive planning and monitor quality of life indicators.
Smart inspection vehicles were also deployed for automated monitoring of waste and maintenance needs, while the free Hala Wi-Fi service was expanded to include buses, parks and beaches and Abu Dhabi Canvas initiative was launched to support artistic talents residing in the UAE and showcase them in public spaces.
DMT’s maintenance projects implemented included 83 bridges and tunnels for vehicles and pedestrians, one million square metres of asphalt work and 6,458 kilometres of rainwater drainage lines.
