The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) broadcasted a story titled "Cancelling an Order" as part of the "Stories and Lessons" series issued by the Department with the aim of spreading legal and community awareness.
The story ended in courts, after it began like any usual digital shopping experience, through a phone screen where a woman entered to buy attractive cosmetics via a social media platform, and proceeded with the purchase order, but for personal reasons she changed her mind before finalising the process, and sent a message via "chat" simply asking to cancel the order.
The shop owner's reaction was not professional as required by the principles of e-commerce, as instead of handling the matter with flexibility, a dispute flared up between her and the shopper and the language of dialogue soon turned into sharp words and verbal altercations.
In a moment of anger, the seller lost control of herself, pouring out insulting phrases against the shopper who did not reciprocate the abuse, but rather preferred that the law be the judge.
