Etihad Rail's first passenger journey kicks off from Tuesday

The first preliminary passenger train journeys for Etihad Rail between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will commence on Tuesday (June 30, 2026), with 6 daily trips, 3 from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah and 3 from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi.

The Fujairah to Abu Dhabi trips will be as follows: The first trip at 5:34am, the second at 10:59am and the third at 5:28pm.

As for the Abu Dhabi to Fujairah trips, the first will be at 8:19am, while the second will be at 1:53pm and the third will be at 6:39pm.

The passenger train routes are set to expand to include Abu Dhabi - Dubai - Al Dhaid and Fujairah from September 30, followed by the opening of stations in Al Dhafra region and Sharjah in later stages.

Etihad Rail affirmed on its website that scooters, including electric ones, are not allowed on board the train, but domestic pets are allowed provided that they are kept inside an approved carrier bag and within the permitted size.

The company also affirmed that the animal must remain inside the bag and under the passenger's control throughout the journey.

One bag is also allowed per passenger, replacing the permitted hand luggage.

The company stated that the station design facilitates travel for wheelchair users, with adapted facilities and dedicated spaces on board the train.

If a passenger requires mobility support, they should bring their own wheelchair or assistance device and travel with an escort if needed, the company clarified, adding that each passenger can bring two pieces of luggage on board the train free of charge, regardless of ticket type and in case additional luggage is desired, this must be arranged in advance.

The passenger's name and contact details must be clearly displayed on all luggage, and the passenger must be able to carry, lift, and store the luggage.

To ensure everyone's safety, luggage must not be placed in aisles, near doors, or emergency exits and personal items such as handbags or laptop bags must be placed under the seat.

Cabin bag dimensions are as follows: maximum height 55cm × width 40cm × depth 23cm, and must be placed in the designated luggage racks, the company affirmed.

Each adult or child aged 3 years or older is also allowed to bring two pieces of luggage without additional fees and children under 3 years do not have a separate luggage allowance.

The company clarified that weapons, explosives, flammable or dangerous materials, narcotics, large items obstructing aisles or storage areas, bicycles, scooters, electric bicycles, alcoholic beverages, smoking devices or e-cigarettes, or any item which may cause danger, nuisance, strong odors, or discomfort to passengers are not allowed, the company affirmed.

Mobile phone coverage is reportedly available on board the train, as the company has worked closely with local telecommunications providers to support it. Calls can be made, messages sent, and mobile data used during the journey.

Besides, free Wi-Fi service is also available, with the need to consider the comfort of others when making calls or using audio on personal devices.

The company revealed that bus services is available in Abu Dhabi to connect passengers to and from Abu Dhabi, via Mohamed Bin Zayed City station through three routes, all departing from specific areas in Abu Dhabi.

Route 1: ADNOC Headquarters – Western Corniche Road, Al Khubeirah area, Corniche.

Route 2: ADNEC Abu Dhabi – Arabian Gulf Street – Al Rawdah – W59 01. Route 3: Reem Mall – Reem Island.

According to the company, bus timings are as follows: The bus from ADNOC Headquarters – Corniche to Abu Dhabi station at 7:14am, 7:59am and 12:48pm, 1:33pm and 5:34pm, 6:19pm.

As for the bus from Abu Dhabi station to ADNOC Headquarters, its timings are 8:05am, 8:50am and 1:18pm, 2:03pm and 7:47pm, 8:32pm.

Buses for Route 2, ADNEC Abu Dhabi – Al Rawdah to Abu Dhabi station, have timings of 7:29am, 7:59am and 1:03pm, 1:33pm and 5:49pm, 6:19pm.

The bus from Abu Dhabi station to ADNEC Abu Dhabi – Al Rawdah will have timings of 8:05am, 8:35am and 1:18, 1:48pm and 7:47pm, 8:17pm.

As for the bus for Route 3 from Reem Mall – Reem Island to Abu Dhabi station, its timings will be 7:04am, 7:59am and 12:38pm, 1:33pm and 5:24pm, 6:19pm, and from Abu Dhabi station to Reem Mall – Reem Island: 8:14am, 9:00am and 1:18pm, 2:13pm and 7:47pm, 8:42pm, according to the company.
