Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case in which two people were accused of endangering people’s lives and health by selling Mounjaro injections intended for treating diabetes and weight loss without obtaining the necessary licences, while a third accused was charged with practicing a financial activity without a licence.
Earlier, the police detected an account on social media promoting the sale of Mounjaro injections through electronic advertisements, knowing that such injections were dispensed only with a medical prescription.
The competent authorities initiated investigations and tracked the electronic account, which resulted in the arrest of the first and second defendants for their involvement in selling medicines without a licence.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a third person on charges of carrying out money transfer operations related to the activity in question without obtaining the necessary legal licence to conduct this activity.
During the trial, the court charged the first and second defendants with endangering people’s health and lives by selling unlicensed medications and practising pharmacy without a licence.
The third defendant was charged with engaging in financial activity without a licence.
While all three defendants denied the charges levelled against them, Sharjah Misdemeanor Court adjourned the case for a verdict at a later date.
