Sharjah Misdemeanor Court sentenced an Asian for one month in jail after he had been convicted of assaulting his boss at work following a dispute over a request for annual leave and pay raise.
Earlier, the boss filed a complaint with the court in which he accused the employee of assaulting and threatening him.
The accused had applied for annual leave and requested a pay raise but he was told to postpone his request to a later time due to the current work conditions, which did not allow for a pay raise, he added.
As he lost his temper and became aggressive, the accused assaulted him, causing multiple injuries to his head and face, he added.
After reviewing the case file and hearing the accused’s testimony, in which he did not deny the charges against him, the court sentenced him to one month in prison. The accused appealed the verdict, but the Court of Appeal rejected the appeal and upheld the original sentence.
