All leading stakeholders representing various sectors are on the right track to achieve the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.
In this regard, the investors and developers are being challenged to move beyond broad commitments and embed measurable environmental performance, energy efficiency, resilience and operational intelligence into the full lifecycle of every asset.
This was stated by Dr. Samiullah Khan, a prominent sustainability champion with over 28-year experience of corporate and sustainability after being appointed as Strategic Adviser for Sustainability and Net Zero by Enlightened Minds Investments.
Dr. Khan will also lead the sustainability agenda of the National Development Consortium (NDC), a newly formed platform established by founding partners Enlightened Minds Investments, National Consulting Office for Engineering (NCO), MCPM and BIMCO Technology.
Dr. Khan has the expertise across renewable energy, direct air carbon capture, green building innovation, technology implementation and organisational transformation.
His mandate will focus on embedding measurable sustainability principles into project evaluation, design, execution, operations and long-term asset performance.
“For Enlightened Minds Investments, sustainability is not a separate ESG theme. It is part of the investment architecture. The organisation’s vision is to build ecosystems in which capital, engineering, technology and operating expertise work together to create projects that are commercially viable, environmentally responsible and aligned with the UAE’s long-term national priorities,” he told Gulf Today.
Mohammed Alkaff Alhashmi, Chair of NDC, said: “The UAE’s sustainability agenda requires practical collaboration between engineering, technology, capital and execution. NDC has been created to bring these capabilities together, and Dr. Khan’s appointment gives the consortium the leadership required to integrate sustainability from the earliest stage of every project.”
