As part of its "Safe Summer" campaign, Abu Dhabi Police has warned motorists about the dangers of using poor-quality or non-compliant tyres, stressing that they are among the leading causes of serious traffic accidents, especially during the summer months when temperatures are high. Such tyres can suddenly burst, causing drivers to lose control of their vehicles.
In cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre, Abu Dhabi Police shared videos of traffic accidents caused by tyre blowouts while vehicles were in motion. The initiative aims to raise road safety awareness among drivers and encourage adherence to preventive safety measures to protect lives and property.
The police emphasised the importance of regularly inspecting tyres to ensure they are roadworthy and meet approved specifications. Drivers were also urged to check tyre production dates and lifespan, maintain the recommended tyre pressure, and avoid overloading vehicles beyond their permitted weight limits.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate called on motorists to replace damaged or worn-out tyres immediately and not neglect preventive maintenance procedures. It noted that tyre safety is a fundamental component of road safety and plays a vital role in enhancing road security and protecting all road users.
Abu Dhabi Police stressed that tyre safety is a shared responsibility that begins with the driver, warning that neglecting tyre maintenance or using substandard tyres can lead to serious accidents that endanger lives and property. The force urged everyone to follow preventive measures and promote a culture of road safety.
