To obtain a facilitated marriage loan, an applicant must meet 9 conditions, according to Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA), which stated on its website that the conditions include: the husband must be a UAE national, from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and must not have been previously married, with the exception of widowers and divorcees.
SSA also emphasised that the marriage must be in accordance with the Madeem wedding model, by completing registration on "Madeem" platform, selecting a wedding package, and completing counseling sessions at "Madeem" centre. SSA affirmed that the applicant must be 21 years old or older when applying for the service.
The application is submitted by the husband only, within a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of the marriage contract, provided that his total monthly salary is less than Dhs60,000 at the time of application, after deducting the monthly retirement contribution.
He must also have approved creditworthiness, according to the lending policy of banks operating in the UAE, and the loan is eligible only once, SSA affirmed.
Required documents for applying for the service include: a valid marriage contract, an attested salary certificate, a letter stating that he has not previously received a marriage grant via email, or a "to whom it may concern" certificate regarding marriage grants from the Ministry of Community Development.
According to SSA, one can apply for the facilitated marriage loan service by logging in using the digital ID, submitting the application and required documents. After that, the applicant receives an eligibility confirmation notification, after completing the banking procedures, and then finally receives the loan.
SSA stated that the service is provided as part of "The Emirati Family Growth Support programme” and in line with Abu Dhabi's strategy for family quality of life.
The service allows citizens working in the country from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, who are about to get married, to apply for a loan of up to Dhs150,000, without interest or fees, to enable them to start a stable married life, SSA indicated.
