Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre, has released a new awareness video highlighting a number of traffic accidents caused by sudden swerving and motorists' failure to comply with mandatory lane markings.
The video forms part of the ongoing 'Your Comments' awareness initiative, which aims to promote safer driving habits and encourage road users to adopt responsible behaviour behind the wheel. The campaign is aligned with Abu Dhabi Police’s strategic objective of enhancing smart road safety and reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities across the emirate.
Through real-life footage and traffic monitoring recordings, the video demonstrates how abrupt lane changes and failure to remain within designated lanes can lead to serious collisions, endangering not only the driver but also passengers and other road users.
The Directorate General of Traffic and Patrols urged motorists to remain in their designated lanes, avoid sudden or unsafe lane changes and ensure that the road is clear before changing lanes or overtaking other vehicles. Drivers were also reminded to use indicators appropriately and maintain safe distances from surrounding vehicles.
Abu Dhabi Police stressed that reckless lane-changing behaviour remains one of the leading causes of traffic accidents, often resulting in significant human and material losses. Authorities continue to intensify awareness efforts to foster a stronger culture of road safety among all motorists.
