Dubai Charity Association (DCA) announced that its annual udhiya campaign for 1447 AH achieved a remarkable success and significant humanitarian milestones, extending its reach to approximately 1.6 million beneficiaries within the UAE and eight countries worldwide.
The campaign’s objectives included distributing sacrificial meat and providing Eid clothing to orphans, low-income individuals, widows and people of determination along with a comprehensive package of accompanying development and humanitarian projects.
Expressing his gratitude to all donors, philanthropists and members of society who generously supported the campaign, Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of DCA, commended the tireless efforts of DCA’s teams and the sound strategic plans and organizational procedures implemented by the management, underscoring that this achievement was the fruit of teamwork and collaborative spirit to reinforce the values of giving.
“Based on our firm commitment to promoting the values of solidarity and compassion and reviving the noble Sunnah of the Prophet in implementing the blessed ritual of sacrifice, DCA was keen to meet the needs of needy families and the most deserving groups,” he said.
“In accordance with the mandate and precious trust that the sacrificers have given us, DCA undertook the distribution of the sacrificial meats to a total of 15,200 beneficiaries inside the country and more than 360,000 people outside it,” he added.
Al Suwaidi explained that the ‘Eid Clothing’ initiative succeeded in bringing joy and happiness to the hearts of 8,000 orphans, children of needy families and people of determination in fulfillment of DCA’s goals of providing a decent life for all.
As far as the external development projects accompanying the campaign were concerned, Al Suwaidi pointed out that DCA succeeded in rallying the necessary support to construct 145 mosques, dig 760 wells, carry out 745 water supply projects and establish two integrated complexes.
DCA also succeeded in building 11 schools, a Holy Quran memorizing centre, 5 medical clinics and 84 homes for needy families over and above carrying out 12 projects to support people of determination and funding 2,212 diverse development projects, he added, noting that about 1.2 million beneficiaries around the world benefited from these pioneering development initiatives.
Al Suwaidi concluded by renewing his appreciation to the generous and benevolent people of the UAE, stressing that their generous donations were the main driver in translating the campaign’s goals into tangible reality and represented renewed evidence of the deep-rooted values of compassion and human solidarity that characterized the UAE society.
