Al Ain Court orders company to pay Dhs185,000 in unpaid salaries to employee

The Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a company to pay Dhs185,000 to a former employee after she filed a lawsuit seeking unpaid wages that had remained outstanding for more than a month.

The claimant stated that she left her job after the company failed to pay her salary. She added that the dispute was referred to the court after attempts to reach an amicable settlement were unsuccessful. Although an employment contract had been signed, her salaries were not paid. She said she repeatedly contacted the company requesting payment but received no response.

The court found that the employee had worked under an employment contract with a monthly salary of Dhs75,000 and was claiming unpaid wages totaling Dhs185,000. The company's lawyer acknowledged her employment and entitlement to wages but disputed her claim for one of the months included in the lawsuit.

The court noted that the company's representative failed to provide evidence proving that the employee's wages had been paid. It emphasized that the burden of proving salary payment rests with the employer.

The court also rejected the representative's argument that he was not responsible for contracts signed by his business partner, stating that no official documents had been submitted to support the claim. As a result, the court found the argument to be without legal basis.

Accordingly, the court ordered the company to pay the former employee Dhs185,000 in outstanding wages.
