Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has called on benevolent and compassionate people to hasten to adopt the treatment of a critical medical case of a woman with limited income, who suffers from advanced pulmonary fibrosis and whose lung transplant has become the last hope to save her life at an estimated cost of Dhs1.07 million.
The patient, who is exhausted by the disease, is daily experiencing severe shortness of breath and a rapidly deteriorating health condition as she is no longer able to carry on with her normal life and the simplest activities have become a painful challenge for her.
According to Mohammed Sulaim Al Manaei, Director of Domestic Aid Department, this case represents a humanitarian model that requires urgent community efforts.
Based on its humanitarian mission, SCI rushed to study the case in detail as it was shown that it deserved support and that the patient suffered from difficult financial circumstances that prevented her from being able to bear the high costs of treatment, he said.
Al Manaei explained that, according to the medical report issued by the competent health authority, the required medical intervention could not be postponed, as lung transplantation was the only available treatment option to save the patient’s life, which made time a crucial factor and doubled the importance of speedy response of benefactors.
As it was keen to facilitate donations, SCI provided multiple and secure channels including its smart app, website, SMS as well as bank transfers, credit cards and electronic payment services such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay to allow everyone the opportunity to participate in this noble humanitarian work with ease and convenience, he said.
He pointed out that such humanitarian cases reflected the pivotal role of charitable work in society and enhanced the values of solidarity and mutual support that characterized the Emirati society.
Every contribution, no matter how small, is a real step towards saving the life of a person who is waiting for hope, he added, calling on members of society and institutions not to hesitate to provide support to give the patient a new chance to survive.
