Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it seized 9,753 vehicles parked haphazardly in urban areas and on the road right-of-way in 2025.
The vehicles were towed and impounded in Lehbab Yard in accordance with the approved legislative regulations, it added.
These efforts came as part of RTA’s endeavours to preserve the civilised and aesthetic appearance of the Emirate of Dubai by detecting these negative phenomena, achieving traffic safety on the road right-of-way and ensuring the safe movement of vehicle owners and pedestrians, it said.
As part of its campaigns, RTA detected vehicles misusing public parking spaces, encroaching on road and railway right-of-way and engaging in other practices involving the unauthorised use of road space.
RTA reiterated that these behaviours negatively affect the aesthetics of Dubai, not to mention their direct effects on traffic safety and traffic flow.
RTA regularly and continuously organises inspection campaigns across Dubai as well as awareness campaigns through social media channels with a view to educating the public about the Executive Council’s resolution no. 54 for 2021 with respect to regulating work in the road right-of-way in Dubai.
These efforts stem from the priority of preserving road right-of-way, enhancing traffic safety levels and protecting the assets of individuals and institutions in line with the emirate’s orientations in consolidating quality of life and supporting the happiness of society, it said.
RTA organises the impounding of illegally parked vehicles in partnership with Emirates Parking Services, which is responsible for towing and impounding vehicles and other items that violate applicable regulations.
It abides by strict operational standards including a rapid response time of no more than 60 minutes from receiving a report and swift impoundment within 24 hours. Later, the impounded vehicle is transported to Lehbab Yard in Dubai, where comprehensive insurance against fire and theft is provided for vehicles in the yard, thereby ensuring the protection of assets belonging to individuals and institutions in accordance with the highest international standards.
