Pakistan successfully conducted a training launch of the indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
In a statement, the ISPR said that the training fire was carried out by the Army Rocket Force Command.
It said the weapon system, equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigational aids, is capable of engaging long-range targets with high precision.
The ISPR said that the training launch was conducted to enhance the operational efficiency of troops and validate the technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability.
The training fire was witnessed by senior officers from the Pakistan Army Rocket Force Command, along with scientists and engineers of the developing agency.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu commended the successful launch.
They appreciated the technical expertise, dedication and commitment of all personnel who contributed to the successful training fire of the F-series missile.
In a statement on X, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called the achievement a significant milestone.
“The successful test marks another significant milestone in strengthening the country’s indigenous defence capabilities and strategic deterrence,” he said.
The test comes about two weeks after the Army Rocket Force Command conducted a successful training launch of the indigenously developed Fateh-II missile system.
At the time, the ISPR had said the launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Rocket Force Command and Pakistan Army, along with scientists and Engineers of Strategic Organisations.
A week before that, the Pakistan Navy carried out a successful live firing of the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile, an indigenous anti-ship weapon system.
On April 21, the Pakistan Navy conducted a successful test of the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile, an indigenously developed anti-ship weapon system, described as "a powerful demonstration of precision strike capability and operational readiness".
According to the ISPR, the air-launched cruise missile executed its mission with exceptional precision, validating Pakistan Navy's combat capability to detect, target and decisively neutralise enemy sea-based threats at extended ranges.
On April 16, the Pakistan Navy also successfully conducted a live weapon firing of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship missile.
