Anwar Gargash, an adviser to the United Arab Emirates president, said on Wednesday that the UAE remained committed to political solutions and diplomacy amid regional tensions, while stressing the country's right to defend its sovereignty.
Gargash said on X, “The world is closely watching the important visit of the US President to China and its potential impact on the regional landscape. In this context, the UAE reaffirms the importance of a political solution and a negotiated path, a position it consistently upholds in all its communications.
“We did not seek this war, and we worked diligently to avoid it. Arab-Iranian relations in the Gulf cannot be built on confrontations and conflicts, especially in a region whose peoples are bound by deep-rooted geographical and historical ties.
“Defending the homeland is a sacred duty, and the UAE will protect its sovereignty with strength, efficiency, and steadfastness. However, its priority and unwavering conviction will remain focused on political solutions, as it believes they are the only way to achieve peace, stability, and prosperity.”
UAE said it had not sought conflict and had worked to avoid it, adding that relations between the Arab states and Iran should not be based on confrontation.
