The Ras Al Khaimah Police have seized 170 motorcycles through its ongoing traffic enforcement and awareness campaign specifically targeting motorcycle safety.
Initiated by the Ras Al Khaimah Police Traffic and Patrols Department on April 10, 2026, this campaign aims to educate motorcyclists about proper safety procedures while identifying and taking action against violators whose actions pose threats to lives and property on the emirate's roads.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Abdulrahman Al Saman Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ras Al Khaimah Police Traffic and Patrols Department, reported that 170 motorcycles were impounded due to their lack of licences and riders operating without valid driver's licences.
A dedicated team was established to actively monitor compliance with traffic laws across main roads, secondary routes, and residential neighbourhoods, targeting offenses that contribute to fatal road accidents and public safety risks.
He emphasised that the goal of the motorcycle safety campaign is to combat violations that lead to accidents, endangering both the riders and other road users.
The law clearly penalises individuals for driving unlicenced or electric motorcycles or operating a vehicle in a manner threatening road users with violations resulting in a Dhs2,000 fine, the impounding of the motorcycle for 15 days, and additional repercussions.
Furthermore, it was highlighted that most caught motorcycle riders were found lacking knowledge of traffic regulations. Additionally, the seized vehicles themselves failed to meet the necessary safety standards and requirements for road use.
