Abu Dhabi court fines man Dhs15,000 for threatening a woman and damaging her reputation

The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay a woman Dhs15,000 as compensation for his aggressive conduct.

The woman had initially filed a lawsuit claiming moral and psychological damages, defamation, and court-related costs, seeking a total of Dhs30,000 in compensation.

Her case was founded on accusations that the man demonstrated severe aggressive behaviour, which included verbal abuse, defamation, threats, and physical assault. This led to a criminal case where the man was convicted for his actions.

The court found that the man's behaviour inflicted significant psychological and emotional harm on the woman, including feelings of humiliation, distress, and a breach of her dignity.

Furthermore, his threats and assault caused her fear, anxiety, and psychological turmoil. Referencing Articles 292 and 293/1 from the Civil Transactions Law, which state that individuals who harm others are accountable for damages, the court upheld the woman's claims.

In light of the established verbal abuse and threats determined in the criminal case, the court granted her Dhs15,000 in compensation.
