Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court obligated a man to pay Dhs10,000 in compensation to another after he had filmed a car that was driven by the other man and was involved in an accident.
The victim filed a lawsuit against the other man in which he requested the court to obligate him to pay Dhs100,000 for the material and moral harms he had caused to his reputation and psychological well-being and to settle the incurred charges, expenses and lawyer’s fees.
The plaintiff pleaded that the defendant filmed the car he was driving, which had been involved in an accident and that the video subsequently went viral without the plaintiff’s knowledge or consent.
The video allegedly showed the defendant mocking the plaintiff, for which he was convicted in a criminal case.
The court stated that the documents presented showed the defendant’s guilt for photographing and posting the images of those injured in the traffic accident.
The court further stated that the defendant’s wrongdoing was proven as described above and caused both psychological and material harms to the plaintiff.
Based on the above, the defendant is legally obligated to compensate the plaintiff for these harms and the court hereby estimates the compensation due at Dhs10,000.
