Man fined Dhs20,000 for insulting woman in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court obligated a man to pay Dhs20,000 as compensation to a woman after he insulted and abused her using information technology. The court also banned him from using information technology for two months.

Earlier, the victim filed a lawsuit against the defendant in which she requested the court to obligate him to pay her Dhs51,000 as compensation for all the moral and psychological harms she had befallen plus legal interest at 12 per cent from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment was completed with immediate enforcement without bail.

The plaintiff pleaded that the defendant had insulted and abused her and she filed a lawsuit under which he was convicted of defamation, fined Dhs20,000 and banned from using the network for two months. The defendant was also obligated to pay court fees.

The verdict became final and binding without any appeal being filed.
