UAE minister accuses Iran of targeting stability and coexistence model

Reem Al Hashemy, the UAE's Minister of State for International Cooperation, stated on Sunday that the country has been subjected to severe and unparalleled targeting by Iran. She linked this hostility to the stark differences between the UAE’s model, rooted in prosperity and tolerance, and Iran’s contentious stance.

Emirati determination

During an interview on ABC News' *This Week*, it was highlighted that Iran's actions were specifically aimed at undermining the "Emirati model." The reasoning, as explained, is rooted in stark contrasts.

She said, "They chose this path because we embody everything they do not. We represent economic prosperity, welcoming over 200 nationalities and embracing cultural diversity. Our resources have been channeled into building economic resilience and fostering international responsibility, whereas Iran has exhausted its wealth on harmful nuclear ambitions, supporting proxies, and weaponizing missiles and drones."

Reem Al Hashemy revealed that the UAE faced more than 2,800 Iranian attacks within a span of just 40 days. She noted that over 90% of the targets were civilian infrastructure, with sites like hotels and airports being predominantly affected.

Contrary to claims that American military installations were the focus, she clarified these strikes were aimed at eroding the UAE's determination and dismantling its model of stability and coexistence. She firmly concluded, "They miscalculated our strength of will."

The Reality of Geography 

Al Hashemy highlighted the UAE's unease over Iran's persistent hostile capabilities, even in scenarios where agreements might be established. She stressed that the real challenge ahead revolves around navigating the "realities of geography" in a region that must uphold international law. She pointedly questioned how it is possible to engage with a leadership within the Revolutionary Guard that does not abandon such adversarial intentions.
