The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities (IACAD) in Dubai announced that 13 new mosques have been opened at a cost exceeding Dhs162 million, with a capacity of up to 10,400 worshippers.
The Department also stated that 10 plots of land for building new mosques in 8 different areas across the emirate were allocated, including Al Awir First, Hind City Third, Al Yalayis Fifth, Al Khawaneej Second, Nad Hessa, Al Jaddaf, Al Qusais Industrial, and Hatta, which contributes to achieving geographical balance in the distribution of mosques and enhances the ease of access for community members to places of worship.
Mohammed Jassim Al Mansouri, Director of Customer Service Department at IACAD, affirmed that these projects represent a strategic dimension in supporting the goals of "Dubai Social Agenda 33" and "Dubai Urban Plan 2040," noting that the development of the mosque network comes in response to the increasing demand for religious services in new areas.
IACAD operates according to an integrated vision based on proactive planning and integration with government entities and work partners, which enhances the efficiency of geographical distribution of mosques and achieves balance in providing religious services, he added.
Also, he affirmed this contributes to supporting the value system and strengthening family and community cohesion, in line with Dubai's directives to build a more cohesive and stable society, and to consolidate the emirate's position as a global leading city in quality of life and sustainable community services.
