President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a federal decree granting Dr Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous the rank of minister.
The decree is effective from the date of its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
A leading figure in the field of meteorology at both the regional and international levels, Al Mandous serves as President of the World Meteorological Organization and Director of the National Centre of Meteorology.
Apart from his efforts to develop the work system in the country’s meteorological sector and strengthen its technological infrastructure to support the accuracy of weather forecasts and enhance the country’s preparedness to deal with climate change, Al Mandous also oversaw advanced national programmes in the fields of cloud seeding and weather modification.
He holds a PhD in meteorology from the University of Belgrade in Serbia, a Master's degree in Meteorology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a Bachelor's degree in meteorology from Saint Louis University in the United States of America.
