The Sharjah Department of Public Works (DPW) has completed 3 park projects in the Central Region, according to Engineer Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Branches Department.
Al Tunaiji explained that the department completed Al Sidra neighbourhood park in Al Dhaid City, in response to the demands of the Municipal Council. The park is designed to provide an integrated environment which combines recreation and services, through the construction of a 15 square metre service building and a guard room, and two toilet buildings, each 65 square metres.
The project also included the implementation of decorative fences and four external gates, in addition to a 500-metre pedestrian walkway, 2,800 square metres of tiled flooring, and the installation of 1,700 metres of curbstone.
The park also features a football field and a children's play area, along with 48 modern lighting poles which provide a safe environment during the evening.
Al Tunaiji mentioned that DPW completed Al Hosn 1 Park in the Central Region to meet the needs of various community segments through integrated facilities including a 100-square metre gate building, a service building of similar size, two dedicated barbecue areas, and 16 benches distributed throughout the park.
External fences 336 metres long were also constructed, a main gate was installed, and a children's play area, green spaces, a football field, in addition to informational signs and modern lighting systems, and earthworks and leveling were carried out according to the highest technical standards.
The department also completed Al Thuqaibah Park in Al Madam area, including a 50-square metre gate building comprising a guard room and a supervisor's room, a 32-square metre toilet building, and a 100-square metre service building, in addition to external fences 396 metres long.
It also included the installation of 16 seating benches, the implementation of 2,375 square metres of tiling, informational signs, modern lighting systems, and integrated irrigation networks, while preserving the existing shops in the middle of the site to ensure their continued operation without affecting the overall design.
The three projects allegedly affirm the department's commitment to meeting the needs of the local community and providing modern facilities which support sports and recreational activities, offering residents urban retreats worthy of them.
