Abu Dhabi Maritime, the entity responsible for managing and regulating the waterways in the emirate, stressed the need to obtain a no-objection certificate before carrying out any maritime activity in Abu Dhabi waters.
Such permits aim at ensuring the safety of the waterways, co-ordinating maritime operations and protecting the environment whether for holding maritime activities and events, completing maritime projects or carrying out maritime infrastructure works, it said.
Applications can be submitted via the website to obtain a no-objection certificate easily and efficiently, it added, noting that when planning any maritime activity, obtaining a no-objection certificate is a prerequisite as this includes a range of activities.
Marine activities and events include races and water sports, fireworks, drone displays, towing and diving operations and marine survey work, while marine projects include debris removal, cleaning up ship waste and installing or removing navigational aids, it said.
Marine infrastructure works include the construction, modification or maintenance of fixed and floating marine piers, floating structures, marinas, boat docks, slipways, side, extension and slope quays as well as marine pipelines, submarine cables and dredging and backfilling works.
This includes marine companies through issuing, adding, canceling or modifying maritime activities related to the company’s commercial license, it added, noting that any modification to marine sports vessels requires prior approval including making any change to a licensed marine sports vessel.
