The General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police arrested a driver involved in performing hazardous stunts on Marina Street. It was an act of reckless driving that posed a serious risk to public safety and endangered the lives of other road users.
Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Directorate of Traffic, stated that the vehicle involved was impounded as part of the traffic patrols' "Quiet Roads" initiative.
This programme is designed to improve quality of life, enhance community safety, combat reckless driving, and minimize noise pollution in residential areas.
He further explained that traffic patrols monitored the vehicle performing stunts and making abrupt swerves along the public road. These actions jeopardized both the driver’s safety and that of others, while also causing significant traffic disruption. The vehicle was subsequently impounded, and the driver was handed over to the authorities for legal proceedings.
Brigadier Juma Bin Suwaidan cautioned the public against hazardous traffic behaviours, including reckless driving, drifting, sudden swerving, and irresponsible actions behind the wheel.
He highlighted that the Federal Traffic Law imposes strict penalties on individuals who use vehicles in ways that endanger their lives, the lives of others, public safety, or property.
Violations can result in vehicle impoundment and judicial action against the offender.
He underscored that Dubai Police maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward such reckless behaviours, which pose serious risks to public safety. Efforts to monitor traffic will continue to intensify across various roads and key areas within the emirate, supported by field patrols and advanced smart traffic surveillance systems.
Brigadier Juma Bin Suwaidan also called on drivers to adhere to traffic laws and drive responsibly to safeguard lives and property.
Additionally, he stressed the role of community members in enhancing road safety by reporting dangerous activities through the "Police Eye" feature on the Dubai Police app.
