A medical team at Tawam Hospital, part of “SEHA”, successfully completed oral rehabilitation for a 28-year-old female patient with determination who had suffered from severe jaw atrophy for over ten years, after a long course of treatment, according to SEHA, a PureHealth group company.
The team, under the supervision of Dr Muwafaq Al Ghafour, achieved this medical breakthrough by performing full dental rehabilitation using dental implants under general anesthesia.
The patient suffered from intellectual disability and severe jaw atrophy, which made the dental implant and oral rehabilitation process extremely complex.
This condition directly affected her ability to chew or speak, and negatively impacted her nutritional status and overall quality of life.
The medical team including experts in prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and anesthesia, contributed to restoring the patient's smile, and her ability to speak and chew.
Dr. Muwafaq Radif Al Ani, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon at Tawam Hospital, said: "By employing advanced surgical techniques, along with safe anesthesia and integrated rehabilitation programmes, we succeeded in restoring the patient's oral function and significantly improving her quality of life."
Dr. Nour El Din Al Hassan, Acting Chief Medical Officer at the hospital, added: "The impact of oral rehabilitation is not limited to dental health alone, but extends to nutrition, general health, and self-confidence."
