Dubai Police warned against reckless driving behaviours committed by some drivers on the roads, emphasising that such actions pose a direct threat to the lives of road users and can result in serious traffic accidents with severe consequences.
Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, explained that recently, a number of videos received from the public showed drivers engaging in reckless traffic acts and behaviours which nearly caused serious accidents and endangered the lives of drivers and others.
Bin Suwaidan pointed out that among the most dangerous of these behaviours are not giving way to vehicles coming from behind, sudden swerving, not leaving sufficient safe distance behind vehicles, and deliberately obstructing other vehicles and forcing their way by some drivers, in actions which reflect a clear disregard for the law and road safety.
Bin Suwaidan affirmed that these practices are among the main causes of serious traffic accidents, as they result in a sudden loss of control over the vehicle and an increased probability of chain collisions, which can result in severe injuries or fatalities, in addition to igniting dangerous altercations which may escalate into more reckless behaviours on the road.
He stressed that Dubai Police will absolutely not tolerate these actions and will take the strictest legal measures against their perpetrators, emphasising that traffic safety is a top priority which cannot be compromised under any circumstances, and that any behaviour which endangers lives will be met with firmness according to the law.
The continued commission of such behaviours not only threatens the lives of drivers but also endangers other road users, undermines efforts to enhance traffic flow, and negatively impacts road security and community safety, Bin Suwaidan affirmed.
