Police strictly warn against venturing into flowing valleys and practicing hiking

Brigadier Mubarak Al Ketbi, Director of Hatta Police Station, highlighted the deployment of patrol units across Hatta to address incidents reported from mountainous regions, valleys, or traffic accidents linked to the recent spell of unstable weather in the country.

He noted that these patrols are uniquely equipped compared to standard units. They feature custom-designed tires for tackling rugged terrains and are outfitted with cutting-edge smart devices and communication technologies for seamless connectivity with the Command and Control Centre. The vehicles are also stocked with essential rescue tools and support equipment. Additionally, the officers assigned to these patrols are thoroughly trained to manage various emergencies with utmost professionalism and operate on a 24/7 basis.

Brigadier Al Ketbi called on tourists, visitors, and drivers to exercise caution by avoiding waterways and refraining from crossing valleys to safeguard their lives. He stressed the importance of staying away from hiking or venturing into valleys due to the persistent heavy rainfall. In case of emergencies, he urged individuals to promptly contact the Dubai Police Command and Control Center at 999, offering an accurate and detailed location description to enable swift assistance when needed.

Highlighting preparedness, Brigadier Al Ketbi pointed out that the Hatta Police Station, in collaboration with its partners, namely the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Civil Defence, and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, is fully equipped to handle emergencies. This effort is part of the broader "Rain is a Blessing, Don't Turn It into a Curse" initiative, which focuses on managing incidents such as vehicles trapped in floodwaters, people falling from elevated areas, and traffic accidents during severe weather conditions.

He further explained that the Hatta Police Station implements swift measures as soon as rain begins and valleys start to flow, ensuring a quick response in case of emergencies. The initial step involves dispatching patrols to monitor all streets and activating warning signs to alert drivers to reduce their speed. Additionally, efforts are made to coordinate with the General Department of Transport and Rescue as well as land and sea rescue teams, ensuring readiness for any unforeseen situations, while expressing hopes for everyone's safety.
