An Arab female employee working in a government entity filed an official complaint before Sharjah Misdemeanor Court against a Gulf citizen in which she accused him of directing insults and threats at her while performing her job duties over and above committing acts that would incite hate speech.
The complainant explained that the accused repeatedly directed offensive and insulting words at her during the interaction and threatened her with something that might affect her job performance, which prompted her to file an official report and take legal action to protect herself.
When the court confronted him with the charges of slander, threats, and inciting hate speech, the defendant completely denied the accusations, pleading that the dispute was a result of the employee’s behaviour towards him while he was at the government entity’s headquarters.
The defendant stated that the complainant treated him in a disgusting manner and refused to provide him with the service he needed, which led the situation to escalate into a dispute.
He, however, denied directing any threats or intentionally abusing her.
After listening to both parties and reviewing the case file, the court decided to adjourn the case for further review and final decision.
