Abu Dhabi Police arrested 118 individuals for begging during the holy month of Ramadan, reinforcing their commitment to combating this practice, ensuring community safety, and preserving the emirate's dignified image.
The Abu Dhabi Police stated that these intensified campaigns form part of proactive measures designed to combat this issue, particularly during Ramadan when such activities take advantage of public compassion. The police also pointed out that some beggars employ deceptive methods and fabricated narratives to illegally acquire money, in a practice considered a legal violation.
Abu Dhabi Police called on community members to avoid engaging with beggars or providing them with direct assistance, as this could inadvertently sustain such behavior. They highlighted the importance of directing charitable contributions and Zakat through recognised official channels and accredited charitable organisations, ensuring that support reaches those who genuinely need it.
Additionally, the police urged the public to report instances of begging through designated official platforms. Such collaboration plays a vital role in aiding security authorities’ efforts to combat this issue and promote overall community safety.
