The Sharjah Police General Headquarters has announced its security and traffic readiness through a comprehensive plan in preparation for the 27th night of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid Al Fitr.
The plan comes as part of efforts to enhance public security and safety, regulate traffic movement, and ensure smooth mobility across various areas of the emirate. It aims to provide a safe and stable environment for the community while enhancing overall quality of life.
The plan is based on an integrated security, traffic, and community system that includes intensifying the deployment of security and traffic patrols on main roads, intersections, and vital locations. It also involves strengthening police presence around mosques that witness large numbers of worshippers performing Taraweeh, Tahajjud, and Eid Al Fitr prayers, to organise the entry and exit of vehicles, particularly on the 27th night of Ramadan.
The plan also includes increasing security presence and traffic monitoring in markets and shopping centres, which experience heightened activity during the final days of Ramadan as residents prepare for Eid Al Fitr. These measures aim to reduce traffic congestion and enhance road safety across the emirate.
Sharjah Police has mobilised all its capabilities, supported by qualified personnel and an advanced system of smart technologies and surveillance cameras. This will enhance rapid field response and ensure immediate handling of various incidents and reports.
Brigadier Staff Omar Al Ghazal Al Shamsi, Director General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support, said the security and traffic plan reflects Sharjah Police’s proactive approach in strengthening readiness during religious and social seasons and occasions.
He noted that field teams are working within an integrated system to provide the highest levels of security and safety. He also highlighted Sharjah Police’s commitment to coordinating with strategic partners from relevant government entities to ensure the success of the plan and achieve its objectives through field coordination and the exchange of expertise, reflecting the high level of readiness and efficiency of the emirate’s policing system.
Brigadier Al Shamsi stressed that enhancing security and safety is a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between community members and police personnel. He urged the public to follow traffic instructions and guidelines, supervise their children, and prevent them from using fireworks or engaging in any behaviour that may endanger themselves or others.
He also called on community members not to hesitate to contact 901 for non-emergency reports and inquiries, and 999 for emergency cases, which contributes to faster and more efficient responses to various reports. The public was also encouraged to report any practices or behaviours that could affect community security and safety, in order to strengthen community partnership and reinforce a safe and reassuring environment in the Emirate of Sharjah.
