Abu Dhabi Customs has alerted the public about fraudulent text messages being distributed via SMS and iMessage.
These messages falsely claim to represent the customs authority or shipping companies. People are strongly advised not to interact with these messages or click on any embedded links, as they may be designed to steal personal or sensitive information.
They clarified that these messages could contain claims about a shipment or requests to update personal information, often incorporating numbers or names designed to falsely imply affiliation with official organisations. The ultimate goal is to deceive recipients and obtain their data.
They further stressed the critical need to avoid sharing personal information with unfamiliar parties and encouraged reliance on official channels for accessing services and information to prevent cyber fraud.
Abu Dhabi Customs reiterated its dedication to upholding top-tier cybersecurity standards and safeguarding customer information. Working collaboratively with relevant authorities, it continues to monitor and counteract fraudulent activities. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious messages impersonating the entity through its official channels, helping enhance community awareness and curb phishing incidents.
