The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed Class XII board examinations scheduled in several Middle East countries, citing the prevailing regional situation and concerns over students’ well-being.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi shared the circular on its X account.
In the circular issued on March 9, 2026, the board announced that exams planned between March 12 and March 16 for CBSE-affiliated schools in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Iran will be postponed until further notice.
The board said the decision followed a critical review of the current situation in parts of the Middle East, along with concerns over the mental stress and uncertainty faced by students preparing for the examinations.
CBSE stated that new examination dates will be announced later, while the situation will be reassessed on March 14 before a decision is made regarding the remaining exams scheduled after March 16.
Students have been advised to remain in close contact with their respective schools and follow official announcements for updates.
The circular, signed by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, was also shared with Indian diplomatic missions in the affected countries, including the Consulate General of India in Dubai, to ensure coordination and dissemination of information to schools and students.
